In the 1970’s Fire Investigation was seen as an art form that was passed down from the senior investigator to the new investigator.  As we have moved forward in the field of fire research, there has been a shift to allow science and evidence to take a larger role.  Fire and Explosion investigation is a multifaceted process that utilizes skill, science, technology, and in many cases patience.  It allows investigators to establish the origin of the fire and the circumstances and conditions that were brought together.  To have a fire we have to have an ignition source, a fuel and an oxidant.
