Did you know that each year at 3pm (local time) a Memorial Day moment of remembrance takes place?

memorialday     Memorial Day, an American holiday observed on the last Monday of May, honors men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades. Unofficially, at least, it marks the beginning of summer.  (www.history.com)

AEI would like to acknowledge and pay our respects to those who have so bravely and selflessly died to protect our freedom and way of life.  We thank you.

And I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I won’t forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me. -Lee Greenwood
